It was a mixed weekend for WTA sides in tough windy conditions.

Ketton Juniors 3 – 1 WTA U16s

Luke Whyatt scored an impressive free-kick but it was not enough to secure any points for the under 16s.

In tough conditions, the Acorns’ managed to keep Ketton at bay in the first half before Whyatt’s free-kick into the top corner took the lead following the break.

However, the Acorns’ were unable to sustain any pressure on the opposition and through a lack of discipline, conceded three second-half goals to finish the game with no points.

WTA U14s Red 0 – 9 Northborough Juniors

Despite spells of good possession and a bright performance from Todd, the under 14s Red side failed to register a goal in this fixture.

The Acorns’ looked to start positively but this was short-lived with an early goal for Northborough, who went into half-time with a 5-0 lead, three goals of which came from corners.

Into the second half and the Reds’ looked positive once more, despite the deficit, and strung together a decent passing game but the hosts were unable to show any goal threat.

With an effective long-ball tactic in place, Northborough scored another four goals with 15 minutes to go in the tie to wrap up a comprehensive 9-0 victory.

The frustrated Reds’ side will be looking to turn around their fortunes in their next game away to Parkside Athletic.

Hungate Rovers 1 – 3 WTA U9s

The under 9s side made it six wins in as many matches in this away-day victory.

Ethan was impressive for the Acorns’, who went into half-time with a 3-0 lead following an own goal and goals from Shay and Nathan.

The visitors lost their concentration in the second half following a tactical reshuffle and Hungate capitalised on this by pulling a goal back.

The Acorns’ did create further chances for themselves but neither side were able to add further goals which secured a fine away victory and maintained their 100% record.

Other results: WTA U11s 3 – 2 Woottons C, WTA U13s 1 – 6 Docking Devils, WTA U14s Yellow 4 – 1 Ketton Junior.
